While biomimicry offers a powerful framework for interdisciplinary science education, effectively engaging digital-native students in its complex principles remains a pedagogical challenge, particularly within traditional classroom settings. This research reports on the implementation of a biomimicry-based virtual educational escape room (VEER) for 90 secondary students. To foster interdisciplinary content knowledge and 21st-century skills, the VEER was developed by student trainers to teach biomimicry through games such as riddles, puzzles, and short videos. The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of the gaming experience on student attitudes toward the learning process and nature. The research aims were assessed using a pre- and post-test to measure knowledge gains, a questionnaire to assess student attitudes toward the game and learning experience (including flow), and semi-structured interviews with 13 students. The results indicated that the VEER influenced emotional and cognitive dimensions. Findings show positive attitudes toward the VEER, knowledge gains, a greater appreciation of nature, and improved problem-solving and collaboration skills. The study results showed that VEERs can serve as engaging environments for constructing new knowledge and promoting pro-nature attitudes by increasing curiosity and engagement. To maximize impact, implementation should be supported by reliable technical infrastructure and carefully designed, appropriately challenging tasks.
