Preparing students for unpredictable professional futures requires learning environments that move beyond credentialism toward meaningful, human centered educational design. This study examines an industry embedded capstone model implemented across two upper level fashion design courses, conceptualized as a pedagogical response to career readiness challenges through curriculum and learning design rather than isolated skills training. In alignment with recent educational discourse on learning spaces, leadership, and preparation for AI influenced futures, the capstone was structured as a scaffolded sequence of professional learning experiences. The model began with a discipline specific career expo and progressed through milestone reviews with industry practitioners from entrepreneurial, local studio, and international brand contexts, culminating in a formal professional defense modeled on industry evaluation practices. These experiences functioned as intentional learning environments in which students developed professional communication, critically engaged with feedback, exercised ethical judgment, and demonstrated leadership under conditions of uncertainty. Drawing on student reflections and instructional observation, the study highlights how repeated industry embedded encounters supported the development of confidence, agency, and reflective judgment—competencies identified in ECE discourse as essential for global and technologically complex futures. The paper concludes by offering a transferable capstone framework for educators seeking to design curricula that foster career readiness while sustaining creativity, inquiry, and human intelligence within higher education.
